Update sent out to Coaches on April 30
Good Afternoon KCBL Coaches,
I hope this email finds everyone safe during this challenging time.
As many of you well know, last Thursday, Governor Pritzker extended the stay at home order until May 30.
What does this mean for KCBL and participants?
KCBL HAS NOT GIVEN UP HOPE!
With Governor Pritzker’s announcement, the KCBL season has no choice but to postpone to an undetermined start date with the season schedule adjusted accordingly. This adjustment will include extending the season to the end of July. This would give teams August to regroup with tryouts and fall sports, then we start games around Labor Day for a fall season.
Specific details cannot be determined and finalized until National, State and Local authorities have deemed it safe for our participants to resume normal activities and the Executive Orders are lifted. There could be a chance where youth organizations could be out having their season earlier.
KCBL continues to plan creative solutions as each Executive Order is given to ensure we can provide a quality Baseball Program to our teams once we can return to normal activity. We will continue to update you as decisions are made and appreciate your patience and understanding as we all navigate this unprecedented situation. I know it’s hard as everyone’s patience is being challenged as each day goes by.
We want nothing more for our kids and our KCBL family to be able to play baseball this season.
KCBL Tournament - tournament will be cancelled and refunds will be given if you have already paid. We will be contacting those teams to make arrangements. This will give you an open weekend to try to reschedule one of your April or May tournaments. Right now our focus is to get kids on the fields.
Some things to keep in mind:
USSSA has published its tournament guidelines.
POST COVID-19 Return-to-Play Guidelines, Procedures and Recommendations http://usssa.com/coronavirus
KCBL will have a pitching rule to help the players get their arms back to full strength for a period of time tbd.
There may be a mandatory face covering so I would be prepared.
Please email your division rep with any questions and KCBL will put out a FAQ sheet as many coaches may have the same questions.
If you division doesn't have a rep listed, email Gary Tickle.
